DC with the Gals (and Josh)

Mel, Josh, Jen and I had a Date with Deception. That's right. The International Spy Museum called. Actually, I think it knocked. Twice. Hard. Then once softly. Then three times rapidly. That's the secret knock of the International Spy Museum. Or something I just made up. If I told you which, I'd have to kill you.

I think Mel and Josh were on the same metro as I was - just one car down. We all left College Park and arrived at Chinatown at the same time. There was a slightly strange woman who boarded the Metro a couple of stops after I got on (with an African accent slightly tinged with French) and asked for everyone's attention. I had a moment of panic - DC is getting dangerous - but then again, can you really be scared of a woman in a yellow frock speaking with a lovely accent? Well, I suppose she was dangerous; She began to preach the bible at the people in my car. I calmly looked down and finished my suDoku.

We left the metro station, walked about 2 blocks south, about 3 blocks west, discovered a museum in the way, walked about a block north, and about a block east. Yep. That's roughly a circle! One day I will be able to walk from the metro to the Spy Museum without going in a completely wrong direction...One day.

We grabbed a quick snack at the Spy Museum Cafe, and then hit the museum. My favorite part this time was the movie with an extremely patriotic Donald Duck cartoon. Made me want to send in my income tax early, join the army, smelt metal for guns, ammo, and planes, kill some nazi fokkers (or maybe they were messerschmidts) and march proudly into a red white and blue spangled sunset. Actually, I was really impressed by the sunset. Here's my simple rendition:

It only took us three hours to get through the museum...the first time I went, I think it took me four or five - even though they suggest it only takes two. Maybe I'm a slow reader...

After the run-through, we got pizza at a great joint called Ella's. (Cary and I also stopped there after our Spy Museum jaunt several years ago) Jen got Mussles, Josh got wild mushroom, Mel got sausage, and I got goat cheese and prosciutto. Yum! All come highly recommended. Then ice cream from Hagen Daas. I got Mayan Chocolate. Still doesn't measure up to Starbuck's Mud Pie, but it's pretty good.

Then we all posed for pictures - Josh is the man behind the camera: Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
