Book Club: The Big Love

Erg. I'm so disappointed in myself. I borrowed The Big Love from Shash, so I wouldn't have to buy a trashy beach novel. (Yeah, thanks a lot for picking a trashy book. Book Club is supposed to EXPAND your mind, not drop your IQ 10000000 points...) Anyway, I'm disappointed because...

...I like it. I'm only a chapter or two in, but it's fun. Quirky. Real life meets EDS in someone else's novel. Drat. And here I swore not to enjoy it.

But this is ok, because I'm sure the beach read will be balanced by The Three Musketeers and Reverte-Perez's The Fencing Master (next book club book, guys. Take note!)

That's really all I have to say right now. Mixing pleasure and intellect in Book Club may not be all that bad. I look forward to the next two vacuous chapters.

Day One. Babble Randomly. Check!

Yes. Well. AHEM. (Whoa, that was an Ashley moment.)
Welcome. Or hi, y'all. Some sort of salutation. To the imaginary people reading this:

I have never done this before; don't expect much out of me. I'm mainly using this as an excuse to type frantically, since I've stopped using AIM and my creative juices are just about tapped after 3 and 2 half stories. Mathamatically, I suppose that's 4 stories, but since the 2 halves are unrelated, we'll leave me and my cruddy math skill out of it for now.

Today has been uneventful, which is amazing. Wait, that's a lie. Every day is uneventfull - what I meant to say is, "Today has been relaxing." Which is both a true statement and amazing. I taught a riding lesson, took a 15 minute power nap, and did not much else all day. It's been great. It reminds me of those great summer vacations when I didn't have to work or anything. I could just spend all summer reading, watching TV, and sleeping. I miss those days. Who wants to be a grown-up anyway?

I don't think kids understand the significance of Peter Pan. The old saw is true; Youth is wasted on the young. I am of course saying this from the lofty and advanced age of 24, (where's my walker, dammit!) But I feel like I have abruptly done an about-face from wishing I was older to wishing I could be younger again. At this rate, though, by the time I'm 30 I'll be wishing I was never born. We'll see...much too soon.

Oooh, something exciting did happen yesterday. Mom, Sis and I went to Timonium to Charm City Run ( http://www.charmcityrun.com/scenedetail.cfm?sceneid=33 ). I bought a new pair of running shoes and I can't wait to try them out. Early gym date tomorrow (Yes, Labor Day, whatever. A good runner's high is worth the sacrifice). The place is awesome, if you're not afraid to pay $100 for a pair of shoes. The people there are very good. They have you walk, so they can see how you - erm - walk...you know, balance, inside/outside of foot, that kind of thing. They then bring out 4-5 pairs of shoes they think will be best for you, and make you try each one on. They even have a treadmill so you can take your potential new shoes for a spin. Going to that store made me really want to start running for real. Anyone want to train for a 5K with me?

Ok. I'm written out for now. See ya when I see ya!
